Birell 10km silver medallist, Cintia Chepngeno made sure that the senior women title came to the country when she ran away with the title at the 6th edition of the African Cross Country Championships held on Sunday (25) at the Hammamet Bay Stadium in Tunis, Tunisia.
The 23 year-old led a 1-2 Kenyan podium as she cut the tape first in 32:31.04 and was followed by the 2010 Youth Olympic Games champion Virginia Nyambura, who came home in second in 32:33.45 with Ethiopia’s Azimeraw Asires degitu finishing in third in 33:03.95.
Kenya’s Gladys Kwamboka Monga’re, Caren Chebet, Beatrice Nyamboga Begi and Sandrafelis Chebet Tuei finished in fourth, sixth and tenth in respective time of 33:10.18, 34:39.84, 33:50.52 and 34:17.58.
