
A week After running at the prestigious Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon and finishing in ninth place, Brillian Chepkorir came back with a bang as she banged the Women’s title at the Athletics Kenya Betika National Cross Country Championships, on Saturday (08) at the Eldoret Sports Club in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
The 29 year-old faced a stiff challenge that included former world half marathon record holder, Joyciline Jepkosgei, the 2018 commonwealth Games 10,000m silver medallist, Stacy Ndiwa and the reigning Machakos Cross Country champion, Maurine Jepkoech Chebor.

Kipkoech waited patiently behind Kenya Prison’s Carren Chebet, whom he used a rabbit and kicked when unexpected to and surged forward with a killer kick in the final stages of the race and claimed her first major title this season in a time of 34:29.1 and was followed in second place by Chebor in 32:32.7.
Ndiwa who was team Kenya silver medallist at the 2015 World Cross Country Championships sealed the podium in 34:54.5.
Joyciline who will be leaving the country on Wednesday to go and defend her title at the Barcelona Half Marathon slated for the coming weekend, finished in fourth place in 35:01.9 with Susy Chebet chemaimak coming home in fifth in 35:16.1.
