Former world half marathon record holder Jacob Kiplimo will headline the 26th edition of the San Silvestre Vallecana 10km road race, slated for New Year’s Eve in Vallecas, Madrid, Spain.
The 24 year-old who recently set a new world best in the 15km road race in Netherlands, where he clocked an impressive 40:42, thus, breaking the previous record of 41:05 held by his compatriot Joshua Cheptegei.

The three time World Cross Country champion and the race course record holder of 26:18, set six years ago, will not have an easy ride as he will have to get past the current world record holder in the 5km and the 10km road race and also the defending champion, Berihu Aregawi of Ethiopia.
The two athletes who have great running careers will fight for honors alongside the 2016 European 5000m champion, Adel Mechaal from Spain and his compatriot, Yago Rojo, who is the double National Half Marathon champion.
