Beatrice Chebet storms to victory in Spain

Just after smashing the World 5km Record, Beatrice Chebet did not stop there as she forged a head and opened her season with a superb win at the 80th edition of the Elgoibar Juan Muguerza International Cross Country on Sunday (05) in Elgoibar, Gipuzkoa, Spain.

The 24 year-old took the decisive win in a commanding time of 25:49 with World U20 3000m Indoor record holder Melknat Wudu from Ethiopia coming a distant second 43 seconds later.

Burudi’s National record holder in 10km and 21km, Francine Niyomukunzi finished in third place in a time of 26:33.

Spain’s Carolina Robles and Carla Arce finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 27:03 and 27:26.
