
World 10,000m record holder, Beatrice Chebet and the World Marathon record holder, Ruth Chepngetich are among the six athletes that World Athletics has ratified their records.
Chebet who is the double Olympic gold medallist, broke Ethiopia’s Letesenbet Gidey’s 10,000m record of 29:01.03 at the 2024 Prefontaine Classic, with a new World Record of 28:54.14 to become the first woman to break the 29 minute barrier.

On the other hand Chepngetich went into the history books as the first woman to break the 2:11 and 2:10 barriers in the marathon at the 2024 Chicago Marathon where she erased Ethiopia’s Tigst Assefa’s previous world record of 2:11.53 with a new record of 2:09.56
Other records that have been ratified by World Athletics include; United States Mixed 4x400m of 3:07.41, Swedens’s finest Mondo Duplantis with a pole vault of 6.25m, United States Sydney McLaughlin Women’s 400m hurdles in 50.37 and Men’s 35km race walk time of 2:21.47 by Japan’s Masatora Kawano
