
Former World U20 5000m champion Benson Kiplangat won bronze in the senior Men’s 10km race at the World Athletics Cross Country Championships held on Saturday (30) in Belgrade, Serbia.
The 20 year-old was beaten to third place by the World half marathon record holder Jacob Kiplimo who successfully defended his title when he cut the tape first 28:09 and was followed in second place by World 5km record holder, Berihu Aregawi from Ethiopia in 28:14 with Kiplagat closing the podium in 28:14.
Kenyans Nicholas Kipkorir, Samwel Masai and Sabastian Sawe finished in fourth, fifth and seventh place in respective time of 28:16, 28:18 and 28:31.
World record holder for the 5000m and the 10,000m, Joshua Cheptegei who is also the 2019 World Cross Country champion, finished a distant sixth in 28:24.
