Athletics Kenya Youth Development director Barnaba Korir today graced the colorful launch of Kebenei Foundation and Athletics Scholarship Camp in Keringet, Nakuru County.
The Stanley Kebenei Foundation is the first one in Keringet and will host and facilitate athletes who wish to run and study in Canada, Australia and the United States where he resides.

The event which was officially launched by Korir, who is also the Chairman of Athletics Kenya Nairobi Region, said that AK will fully support the foundation and urged more to emulate Kebenei and invest in more camps in the country
“I appreciate the role of foreign scholarships in uplifting Kenyan athletes, as I am a product of such opportunities myself. Athletics Kenya remains committed to strengthening both athletic talent and education. I urge athletes to pursue academic scholarships through their talent, as it opens doors to a brighter future,” said Korir.
Korir who has helped many athletes to go and further their studies abroad also encouraged the upcoming athletes to make use of the available facilities to build their future careers and education which will be useful in future after hanging their shoes.
“I encourage the young and upcoming athletes to make the most of the holiday training camps funded by the federation. Additionally, AK fully supports the Kebenei Foundation. I commend Kebenei for his initiative to support athletes and urge others with the same passion to follow his example,’ concluded the SIrikwa Classic Meet director.
The event was also graced top elites athletes led by double Olympic 3000m steeplechase champion, Ezekiel Kembo and three time World 1500m champiom Asbel Kiprop.
Other top elites included Paul kipsiele koech, Augustine choge, Amos kipruto, Julius yego, Abraham kibiwott, Conseslus kipruto and Benjamin Limo
