It was a bad day in office for the Olympic 800m bronze medallist, Mary Moraa who managed to finish a distant eight in the women 800m race at the inaugural Kingston Grand Slam Track Meeting, held on Friday (4) at the Independence Park National Stadium, in Jamaica.
The 24 year-old who was making her debut of the season performed dismally when she finished in eight place in a time of 2:00.97. The race was won by last year’s World Indoor 1500m silver medallist, Nikki Hilzt who took charge of the race in the final lap and hanged on to cut the tape first in a time of 1:58.24 and was followed by the 2023 World 1500m silver medallist, Diribe Welteji of Ethiopia in 1:58.29 with Olympic 1500m silver medallist, Jessica Hull from Australia, sealing the podium three finishes in a new personal best of 1:58.58.
Hilz, Welteji and Hull managed to get 12, 8, 6 points respectively with Moraa pulling only one
LEADING TIME
- Nikki Hiltz (USA) 1:58.24
- Diribe Welteji (ETH) 1:58.29
- Jessica Hull (AUS) 1:58.58. PB
