Alex Kipngetich storms to victory in 800m race at the Athletics Kenya Weekend Meeting on Staurday

The 2018 World U20 800m silver medallist, Alex Ngeno Kipngetich stormed to victory in men’s 800m at the 3rd edition of the Athletics Kenya Weekend Meeting held on Saturday at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

The 23 year-old beat a strong field that included 2019 World Military Games 800m silver medallist, Cornelius Tuwei and the 2021 World U20 1500m champion Vincent Keter Kibet.

The 23 year-old, who was representing the Prisons, got hold of the lead at the 200m mark and held on to beat the two as he crossed the finish line in 1:46.83 and was followed by Tuwei who was donning the Kenya Defense Force jersey, coming home in second place in 1:47.45 with Keter closing the podium three finishes in a new personal best of 1:47.43.

Athletics Kenya Nairobi region’s Aron Cheminingwa Kemei and Edwin Kiprono of Central Rift finished in fourth in respective time of 1:48.30 and 1:49.22.
