AIU suspends World 5000m silver medallist, Mohamed Katir for doping Violation

World 5000m silver medallist, Mohamed Katir slapped with two years doping ban

The Athletics Integrity Unit has provisionally suspended Mohamed Katir of Spain for Whereabouts Failures, which is a breach of the World Anti-doping rules.

The 25 year-old who is also the World 5000m silver medallist,has been suspended by AIU for missing three doping tests in the past one year.

Katir is the World Indoor 3000m record holder and the European 5000m record holder in the outdoor.

Katir whose license has been suspended by the Royal Spanish Athletics Federation (RFEA), has vowed to appeal the decision to suspend him from active racing.

“There is no violation arising from three location failures, I was available at the place, date and time provided by me,” said Katir.
