United States based Winnie Bii gifted her country the first ever silver medal in the women triple jump on Day Two of the ongoing All- African Games at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, in Accra, Ghana.

The 20 year-old who erased the old Kenya National record of 12.91 set by Caroline Kola 2001 with a new Nationa Record time of 13.66 that she set early this year at the Big 12 Indoor Championships, where she took the honors, brought a celebratory mood in team Kenya camp and the entire Nation with joy as she scooped the first ever silver for the country with a triple jump of 13:64.

This is the second time in history that Kenya has finished on the podium after Eunice Basweti (12.86) won bronze at the 1995 Africa Games in Harare.

Nigeria’s Ruth Usoro who was the favorite lived to the expectations as she won her country the gold medal in 13.80 with Senegal’s Saly Sarr taking the bronze in 13.60.
