World 3000m steeplechase record holder, Beatrice Chepkoech, lived to the expectations as she struck the third gold for Kenya on the third day of the ongoing 13th edition of the All-Africa Games at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, in Accra, Ghana.
The 32 year-old who is also the 2019 World water and barrier champion cruised to victory in a time of 9:15.62 beating the Tokyo 3000m steeplechase champion Peruth Jemutai of Uganda to second in 9:16.07 with the 22 year-old Lomi Muleta of Ethiopia wrapping up the podium in 9:26.63.
Kenya’s Purity Kirui and Caren Chebet finished in sixth and seventh place in 9:51.01 and 10:03.31 respectively.
