The CEO of Anti-Doping Agency of Kenya (ADAK) Ms. Sarah Shibutse, who just recently got elected to represent Africa at the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) National Anti-Doping Organization (NADO) Expert Advisory Group (EAG) said that she is extremely delighted and honored to have been elected to the NADO EAG.
While speaking exclusively to Athletics News, Ms. Shibutse said, “It shows the confidence that my fellow colleagues in the region have in me to push their agenda forward. The benefits are that we are now better able to articulate to WADA how we implement the Code and the challenges that we go through to ensure compliance”.
She added, “Another benefit is that we will be able to share our experiences with other NADOs and also hear from them how to adapt to the different geographical or environmental landscapes as the program is being implemented. This helps in ensuring we have a stronger Anti-Doping program for our clean athletes”.
She went on to reiterate the importance of Kenya being representing the region and this will accord opportunities to forge partnerships with other countries in Africa and help them establish robust anti-doping programs.
The Adak CEO will be representing Africa and sharing the views of various NADO’s with the WADA foundation board through their elected Chair and Vice-chair sitting on the board. She will also be tasked with reviewing anti-doping matters affecting NADO’s and to also provide relevant guidance and pointers to WADA with the sole aim of enhancing collaboration with and development of NADO’s globally.
