Madrid will once again rack up kilometers to fund pancreatic cancer research. On the upcoming Sunday, November 22, the Juan Carlos I Park will host a new edition of the Race of the Cities Against Pancreatic Cancer, with several ways to participate by running, walking, or as a family.

The Madrid event is promoted by the Pancreatic Cancer Association (ACANPAN), the Spanish Association of Pancreatology (AESPANC) and the Spanish Association of Gastroenterology (AEG), and organized by Lastlap. Its aim is to raise awareness of the disease and generate funds for its research.

In Spain, an estimated 10,405 new pancreatic cancer diagnoses in 2026, according to SEOM and REDECAN. The five-year net survival sits at 10.3% for men and 12.1% for women, figures that underscore the need to continue researching to improve diagnosis and treatments. Participating in the race allows a direct contribution to that effort: the full amount of each registration goes to research.

The full registration fee will be directed toward pancreatic cancer research, through the Carmen Delgado / Miguel Pérez-Mateo scholarships.

The day will begin at 10:00 a.m. with the popular races of 5 and 10 kilometers, run on a five-kilometer circuit through the park’s avenues. At 10:05 a.m. the 5-kilometer non-competitive walk will start, and at 11:30 a.m. it will be the turn for the youngest participants, with a 400-meter children’s race. All starts will be located on Paseo de Otoño.
