16,000 Runners at the Vueling Firefighters Run Barcelona 2026

November 1, 2026

There is one week left for the horn to sound at the Marquès de l’Argentera, and the Vueling Cursa Bombers Barcelona already has its final figures. The 27th edition, which takes place on Sunday, November 8, will bring together 16,000 participants in one of the calendar’s most special 10-kilometer events in Catalonia. It is also the first organised under the UTE formed by PRENSA IBÉRICA, Relay Events and Sport Life Ibérica.

The countdown will reach its first milestone on Wednesday, November 4 at 12:00 h, when the Museu dels Bombers hosts the official presentation, hosted by journalist Alberto Montenegro. The presence is expected of David Escudé, Barcelona’s Sports Councillor; Joan Vehils, director of the SPORT newspaper; Gemma Martínez, director of El Periódico de Catalunya; Sebastià Massagué, head of the Civil Protection, Prevention, Firefighting and Salvage Service; Anna Viladot, director of communications for Vueling, which will remain as principal sponsor for three more years; Mauro Llorens, of Relay Events; Mercè Rosich, president of the Catalan Athletics Federation, and the athletes Marta Galimany and Bakr El Asri Mohsine.

The event will serve to review the edition’s main axes: participation data, course and start arrangements, charitable initiatives, expo and bib collection, elite athletes, and the Campionat de Catalunya de 10 km en ruta. The official jersey and medal will also be presented, along with the commitment to sustainability and the race app.

The expo and bib collection will be set up along the Lluís Companys promenade on Friday, 6 November and Saturday, 7 November, from 10:00 to 20:00 (CET). TMB will distribute 8,000 free single tickets to those who request them when picking up their bib, a way to encourage using public transport.

On Sunday, at 8:50 a.m. CET, the horn and the firefighters’ truck will mark the symbolic start. At 9:00 a.m. CET, the participants will begin in four coordinated waves, with a maximum time of 90 minutes to complete a flat and fast course.

It goes through Paral·lel, Gran Via, the Ronda de Sant Pere and Via Laietana before returning to the finish line beside Parc de la Ciutadella

The average age of participants is 36 years, and the age bracket with the highest concentration of runners is 30 to 39 years. By gender, the race is split 60% men and 40% women, so there will be around 6,400 female runners at the start.

There is another data point that speaks to the race’s rootedness: 91% come from the Province of Barcelona

A Race with a Charitable Heart

As every year, the Bombers Race reserves one euro per participant for Bombers Solidaris’ charitable initiatives. In 2025, through donations and fundraising challenges, the collection reached €65,780 — the highest figure in its history.
