Joma RH Review: The Brand’s First Hybrid Running Shoe, Tested by Roberto Viciedo

October 20, 2026

Roberto Viciedo puts the new Joma RH to the test, the brand’s first hybrid-focused development, in a real competition setting. After clinching the Pro Men title at Hyrox Valencia 2026 with a time of 55:29, the athlete analyzes how this model performs in a discipline that blends running with functional exercises.

The RH’s competitive debut ended in Viciedo’s victory. Throughout the race, the shoes demonstrated a dynamic response during the running stretches and a controlled support at the stations, where movement changes and grip demands come in rapid succession.

“When every second counts, the footwear makes the difference.” This is how the athlete sums up the importance of having sneakers capable of responding in each phase of the competition. Among his main impressions, he highlights a “superb grip, especially on the push,” as well as a “very good pull” and an “incredible reactivity while running.” He also positively values the model’s response during the strides and the wall balls.

These capabilities are especially relevant in the most demanding moments of hybrid: the pushing and towing of the sled, the transitions from stations to running, and the functional exercises that require stability and control at every foot placement.

A design geared toward hybrid performance

The Joma RH has been developed to strike a balance between speed in running and the stability necessary during the stations. Its technical upper, made of nylon thread with a polyamide reinforcement, provides a light, breathable structure that wraps the foot with precision. The snug fit promotes support in multi-directional movements, while its flexibility accompanies the stride during running.

In the midsole, the Fly Reactive technology provides cushioning and energy return. Its Carbon Plate configuration is designed to favor dynamic transitions and a reactive running response, without sacrificing the stability needed to tackle functional exercises.

The outsole completes the package with a stable base and secure contact with the ground. Its design prioritizes traction and grip, two fundamental aspects in accelerations, braking, changes of direction, and the transitions where the support must remain controlled.

The experience of Roberto Viciedo at Hyrox Valencia 2026 marks a first competition test for the Joma RH, which face the challenge of combining reactivity, grip, and stability in a discipline where every transition counts.
