Can Your Skin Keep Up With Your Running Pace?

‘RUB WHAT RUBS’, THE NEW GUIDE TO KEEP YOU GOING

In the world of running, where every kilometer counts and consistency is key, a small detail can make the difference between crossing the finish line and heading home early. We’re not talking about a muscle injury or a lack of energy, but about chafing: that discomfort we’ve all endured, and which we must prevent and take care of properly.

Under the slogan ‘RUB WHAT RUBS’, Anticongestiva Cusí, from STADA, presents a series of visual guides designed for today’s runners to help protect runners’ skin.

“With ‘RUB WHAT RUBS’, at STADA we want to spark dialogue about skin health in sport, placing it on the same level of importance as hydration or nutrition as a key factor for athletes,” says Elena López, Marketing Director of STADA Spain.

Dermatological prevention joins hydration and nutrition as the third pillar of “smart training”

Skin, hydration and nutrition, the three pillars of “smart training”

We often worry about the most cushioned shoes or the most advanced energy gel, but forget that the skin is our first line of protection. A chafing not only hurts; it inflames, can cause open wounds, and may force a total break in training for several days, disrupting the rhythm of preparation.

“We want athletes to stop seeing chafes as an inevitable consequence of physical exercise,” said Elena López. “With this campaign, we aim for dermatological care to be valued as much as hydration or nutrition. Protected skin helps you enjoy sport more.”

Science applied to comfort: Why sweat isn’t your best friend

The onset of a chafe is the “perfect storm” of three factors: friction, pressure, and moisture. Sweat, although necessary to cool the body, softens the outer layer of the skin after hours of physical activity, leaving it vulnerable.

The campaign’s new guides help identify the critical points according to each discipline (in our case, thigh chafing, because we’re runners, but many also head out cycling and suffer from saddle contact) and propose using protective physical barriers. The tested formula of Anticongestiva Cusí, from STADA, acts as that invisible shield that reduces the impact of continuous rubbing, allowing the skin to endure even in extreme humidity or long-duration workouts.

Anticongestiva Cusí is a dermatological cream designed to care for and repair the skin when it most needs it. Intended for the protection and temporary relief of mild irritant skin conditions such as chafes, irritations, and superficial erosions, in adults and children, its zinc oxide formula creates a protective barrier that guards the skin from moisture and external aggressions. It should be used only when rubbing already exists and if you need it as preventive use. It has a soothing and astringent effect and helps restore skin comfort.
