Susana Rodríguez Clinches Her Eighth World Title in Pontevedra

The Galician athlete Susana Rodríguez has proven to be prophetic in her homeland as she was proclaimed this Friday world champion in the PTVI category, marking her eighth world title in her sporting career and the third consecutive one.

Alongside her guide, Sara Pérez Sala, she has removed the thorn from what happened three years ago on this very stage, where a fall and a sanction deprived her of the triumph.

The other two medals for the Spanish team were the silver medals of Nil Riudavets in the PTS4 category and Daniel Molina in PTS3. The Mallorcan finished a mere 13 seconds behind the gold, which was once again claimed by Frenchman Alexis Hanquinquant. Meanwhile, the Castilian manchego, five-time world champion and Paralympic champion in Paris 2024, could not add a sixth title to his collection.

The Spanish participation was completed with Lionel Morales finishing 5th in PTS2, Eva Moral 6th in PTWC, María Fuertes 9th in PTS5, and Samuel Rodríguez Masian 10th in PTS4, along with the performance of the PTVI category where Héctor Catalá, together with his guide Diego Méntrida, finished 6th, and the young athletes from the CaixaBank Paralympic Promises program, Diego Molina with guide Alfonso Izquierdo and Abel Torreblanca with guide Ander Noain, who finished 9th and 10th, respectively.
