The heat accompanied runners and hikers during the routes, which crossed different municipalities and landscapes of the Ribera del Duero, also coinciding with harvest season in numerous wineries.
Approximately 70% of the participants came from outside Castilla y León and the female participation reached 47%, reflecting the national and inclusive character of the event. The program began on Friday with bib collection and an internationally awarded wine tasting at Peñafiel Castle. During the weekend, activities were also organized at various wineries to bring participants closer to the gastronomy, heritage, and the winemaking tradition of the region.
The different routes passed through wineries such as Protos, Dehesa de los Canónigos, Comenge, Emilio Moro, Carramimbre, Vinos de la Luz, Tr3smano, Servilio, Vinos Santos Arranz – Lágrima Negra, and Bodega Cantovera. They also traversed notable locations such as the Duero River Trail (Senda del Río Duero), the Plaza del Coso of Peñafiel, the plazas of Pesquera and Curiel de Duero, the Peñafiel Castle, and the Pintia Archaeological Site.
In the main test, the Ribera Run 30K, the men’s winner was Daniel Planells Serra, with a time of 1:40:51. The second place went to Javi Bravo Diez, with 1:50:22, and the third to Juan Carlos Rodríguez Comino, with 1:51:21.
In the women’s category of the 30K, the winner was Rebeca Merlo Pérez, who completed the course in 2:06:57. The runner-up was Patricia Domínguez Brito, with 2:07:16, and third place went to Cristina de la Fuente Sanz, with 2:22:43.
In the 7K – Ribera Promo Vinos de La Luz distance, the women’s victory went to Laura Acedo Hernández, with a time of 45:20. Estela Moroso Varona finished second with 51:31, while Mararia Bravo García was third with 54:38.
In the same race’s male category, Eduardo Lozano Melero secured the win with 35:19, followed by Diego Aceituno Villar in second with 35:36, and David Mozo Pascual in third with 38:06.
In the team standings, Dailos Runners, from the Canary Islands, was the best-performing club of this edition.
The organization counted with more than 100 people, including residents of Peñafiel, athletics clubs and various associations and support services. Civil Protección de Peñafiel (Peñafiel Civil Protection), Club Desafío Urbión, and the NGO Rescate, among others, participated, contributing to the logistics and safety of the event.
The day ended at the Plaza del Coso in Peñafiel, where the finishes of the three modalities took place and, at 15:00, the awards ceremony was held. Afterward, there was live music with the Valladolid group Nunca Jamás and a set by the Granada DJ Alex Garvin, bringing the eighth edition of the Ribera Run Experience to a close.
