The New San Silvestre Vallecana T-Shirt

September 10, 2026

The presentation began with a performance featuring several pieces from the brand’s new collection, created by Paul García de Oteyza and Caterina Pañeda. Fashion, music, and movement built a staging that culminated in the appearance of a runner-dancer dressed in the new jersey that the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana runners will wear on the last day of the year.

In this way, OTEYZA unveiled its reinterpretation of a garment that every December 31 becomes one of Madrid’s most recognizable symbols. A proposal that transfers the language of authorial fashion to the universe of running and that will dress one of the city’s most iconic nights.

A collaboration that began more than a year ago

The project to select the shirt designer began more than a year ago when the organizers of the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana contacted the Asociación Creadores de Moda de España (ACME) to promote a contest among all its members.

The goal was to introduce a fresh perspective to the shirt design and to establish a dialogue between two Madrid-adjacent realms: fashion and the city’s most emblematic community run.

Among the proposals submitted, OTEYZA was the chosen firm. Its ability to challenge conventional fashion models and its message of renewal and progress proved decisive for the jury’s decision. From that moment a collaborative process began between the firm, Vallecana, and Boomerang, El Corte Inglés’ athletic brand, tasked with producing the piece. The objective: to create a shirt capable of uniting the identity of the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana with the creative language of the Madrid-based brand.

The proposal, presented under the concept OP! LINE, “The line in motion,” explores the dialogue between line, body, and movement through an immersive staging with music, light, models, and choreographic elements. The collection incorporates deconstructed pieces, airy volumes, and natural materials such as extra-fine merino wool, linen, and cotton, in a contemporary reading of the energy associated with sport.

In addition to OTEYZA’s creative work, the jersey maintains the technical quality of previous editions thanks to Boomerang, El Corte Inglés’ sports brand, responsible for its development and production. Its involvement ensures the garment retains the necessary performance to accompany runners on December 31, blending designer-led style, comfort, and athletic functionality.

Registrations for the popular race are already open at www.sansilvestrevallecana.com. International entry will begin its registrations next October. The new jersey will accompany all runners of the Nationale-Nederlanden San Silvestre Vallecana on the next December 31 through the streets of Madrid.
