Villarejo de Salvanés is once again dressed in gala to host the 26th edition of the Agromadrid Popular Race, an event that year after year has become one of the major benchmarks on the Madrid Community athletics calendar and a must-attend gathering for athletes of all levels.
The event will have as start and finish the emblematic historic ensemble of Villarejo de Salvanés, formed by its iconic castle and walls, the Church-Fortress of San Andrés, and the House of the Tercia, medieval buildings linked to the Military Order of Santiago that offer an unparalleled backdrop for participants and companions.

A tribute to a legend of Spanish athleticsFollowing the tradition of paying homage to great myths of national and international athletics, the 26th edition will honor Alberto Juzdado, an international-caliber marathoner who has been awarded the Prince of Asturias Award for Sports and who boasts a brilliant track record that includes the bronze medal in the marathon at the European Athletics Championships in 1994—with the famous embrace and the Helsinki hat-trick with Martín Fiz and Diego García—and memorable victories in top-level world marathons.
An accessible route, more categories, and the promotion of grassroots sport
With an urban course that is approachable and renowned for its speed, the main race will be contested over a distance of 4,500 meters, allowing enjoyment of sport by both top-level athletes and recreational runners alike.
Among the principal novelties of this edition is the expansion of the number of categories, an initiative designed to diversify participation and increase the number of podium medals and prizes.

The race organization is led by the Villarejo de Salvanés Town Hall and the Villarejo Running Club, with the wonderful Pedro Prieto at the helm and his team of collaborators, whose work guarantees year after year meticulous care for the runner, a great festive atmosphere, and the presence of outstanding athletes on the sports scene.
