President William Ruto has sent experts to the home of the World men’s marathon Record holder Kelvin Kiptum with firm instructions to build a three bedroom house.
The head of State who is expected to oversee the handing over of the house to Kiptum’s widow and children before the deceased is laid to rest on February 24, has directed the engineers to construct the house within seven days.
The engineers who received the directive from the head of state are already on the ground yesterday, consulting the family on where to put up the structure which will commence today.
Kiptum’s last wish before dying in an accident on Sunday night through a tragic accident that also claimed his Rwandese coach, Gervais Hakizimana along the Elgeyo-Marakwet –Ravine Road, was to build a home for his family. This is according to his wife, Asenath Jeruto, who said her husband had already drafted his architectural plans for the dream house which had also been approved by the Elgeyo Marakwet County government.
The president’s orders are aligned with the Cabinet pledge to ensure that the athlete, who set a world marathon record of 2:00.35 in Chicago in October 2023, is accorded a heroic sendoff by the Government.
