Sharon Kosgei released from Hospital after a grisly road accident that claimed Kelvin Kiptum life

What transpired before Kelvin Kiptum Died

Sharon Chepkurui Kosgei, the only survivor of the Eldoret-Kaptagat accident that cost the lives of the World marathon record holder Kelvin Kiptum and his Rwandese coach Garvis Hakizimana has been discharged from the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH).

Sharon was among three occupants in the Toyota Premio that was being driven by Kiptum who died on the spot alongside his coach, Hakizimana at Kaptagat area along the Elgeyo-Marakwet –Ravine Road on Sunday night at 2300hrs.

This has been confirmed by the MTRH CEO, Mr. Philip Kirwa who relayed the information to the press. “Sharon Chepkurui Kosgei sustained minor injuries and she has received treatment and released from the hospital,” said Kirwa.

Kiptum’s death was confirmed by Elgeyo Marakwet Police Commandant Peter Mulinge who said he lost control of his car and veered off the road and drove in the ditch for about 60metres before hitting a big tree.
