Samuel Tefera runs a world leading time in 3000m in Kazakhstan

Double World Indoor 1500m champion, Samuel Tefera ran a world leading time in the men’s 3000m race at the Astana Indoor Meeting, a World Athletics Tour Gold, held on Saturday in Astana, Kazakhstan.

The 23 year-old who has a great ambitious plan for this year took the honors with the global leading time of 7:33.80 and was closely followed by his compatriot and Olympic 3000m steeplechase silver medallist, Getnet Wale who came home in second place in 7:34.36 with Sweden’s National Indoor Mile Record holder, Emil Danielsson finishing in third place in 7:38.42.

“The competition here was exhilarating. My aim for the season is ambitious, targeting the 3000m, 5000m, and 10000m events”, said Tefera.

Kazakhstan’s Nursultan Keneshbekov and Karl Bebendorf of Germany finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 7:55.54 and 8:12.92. .
